Spine error: Animation not found
- spine-ts (web, Phaser, PixiJS)
Animation not found: Idle— AnimationState.setAnimation / addAnimation, AnimationStateData.setMix- spine-csharp (Unity)
Animation not found: Idle— AnimationState.SetAnimation / AddAnimation, AnimationStateData.SetMix
This one is not in the file but in the game code: setAnimation, addAnimation or setMix was called with a name the loaded skeleton does not have. The lookup is exact — case, spaces and slashes count.
Why it happens
- Case or spelling:
Idlein code,idlein the skeleton. - The animation was renamed and the skeleton exported again, but the code still uses the old name.
- The game loads an older copy of the skeleton file (a cache, a second asset with the same name).
- In
setMix(from, to), either name can be the missing one — the message names which.
How to fix it
Print the names the runtime actually loaded and compare them with the one in the message:
// spine-ts (Phaser, PixiJS, spine-webgl, spine-player) console.log(skeleton.data.animations.map((a) => a.name)); // spine-csharp (Unity) foreach (var a in skeleton.Data.Animations) Debug.Log(a.Name);
Check your skeleton
The Spine JSON validator does not look for this one, but checks the rest of the file for the problems the runtime loads silently — slot colors, mesh data, deform keys, bone order. It runs in your browser.
