How long slot symbol animations run: land, idle and win in live slot games

A slot symbol's landing runs about 0.6 s, its win about 1 s, and its idle loop about 2.2 s. These are medians from the Spine files of 34 slot games on Stake Engine, 32 of which have symbol skeletons. We measured them for Riggy, which builds Spine 4.2 animations for slot symbols from a chat, to check its ready-made symbol motions against live games.

What we measured

On Oct 25, 2026 we read the Spine files of 34 games that run on Stake Engine, every animation of every symbol skeleton. The length of an animation is the time of its last key. We sorted symbol animations by name: land, landing and stop count as the landing, idle and loop as the loop at rest, win as the win, but not win_idle, win_loop or win_static. Some studios call the loop at rest static; we counted a static as idle when it runs 0.5 s or longer. Reel anticipation, meters and counters that sit with the symbols are left out. Poses of zero length are left out. An animation with some other name doesn't count anywhere, so a game whose landing has its own name drops out of that row. For each game we took the median of each kind over all its symbols, then looked at the spread across games. This is the length of each animation in the file; how fast or how many times a game plays it, we didn't check.

We don't name the games or show their art. The files belong to the studios; what we publish are our own numbers.

Land: about 0.6 s

Across games, the landing has the lowest median of the three: 0.6 s, half the games sit between 0.5 and 0.7 s, and 0.5 s is the most common value, in 5 of the 27 games with a landing.

Win: about twice the landing

The win has a median of 1 s, also the most common value (8 of 26 games), and half the games sit between 0.83 and 1.33 s. In all 24 games that have both, the median win is longer than the median landing, and for the middle game it is 2 times as long.

Idle: about 2 s, with the widest spread

Idle has the highest median across games, 2.2 s, and the widest spread: from 0.63 to 7.2 s. In 10 of the 28 games with an idle, the median is exactly 2 s. For how keys are spaced inside a loop, see our measurement of the official Spine examples.

How Riggy's symbol template compares

Riggy's Symbol template offers three ready motions to pick from, with no prompt: Idle (3 s, a loop), Pop (0.9 s, the win accent) and Land (0.5 s). All three sit inside the middle half of these games. The Speed handle (0.5–2) divides the time, so Idle can come down to the common 2 s.
